Dr. Eric Weisbard Receives President’s Faculty Research Award

Dr. Weisbard was selected for a President’s Faculty Research Award in the Senior Scholar category for the Arts and Humanities. He is the author of the award-winning Top 40 Democracy: The Rival Mainstreams of American Music (2014), Songbooks: The Literature of American Popular Music (2021), and numerous articles, book chapters, and edited volumes. He co-edited the Journal of Popular Music Studies and for years organized the Museum of Popular Culture (MoPOP) / Experience Music Project (EMP) Conference. Dr. Weisbard also hosts the Popular Music Books in Process (PMBiP) series, which showcases other scholars’ current work.  He is now writing about the Elvis Presley hit single “Hound Dog” for Duke University Press.
